Artist's Description

The Naviglio Grande Canal is the heart of the Navigli canal district in Milan, Italy where many people go to walk, shop, or eat and drink at the cafes, restaurants, or bars. It runs from the Ticino River to the Porta Ticinese dock (also known as the Darsena) in Milan and today is primarily used for irrigation and tourist navigation. Construction was done by hand using pickaxes and shovels and began in in 1177, reaching Milan in 1258.
