Artist's Description

A glimpse of a Durango & Silverton narrow gauge train as it steams along the Animas River in Southwest Colorado's San Juan Mountains. This narrow gauge line has been in continuous operation between Durango and Silverton since 1882, carrying passengers behind vintage steam locomotives. The line was constructed to haul silver and gold ore from mines in the San Juan Mountains. Today it is primarily used for passengers offering amazing views inaccessible by highway.
